Dumfries and Lockerbie Show – 3rd August, 2024. Judge – Mr Andrew Waugh, Kilnstown Farm, Kilnstown, Bewcastle, Cumbria.
Bright sunshine welcomed exhibitors and the public alike to the Dumfries and Lockerbie Show, held on the outskirts of Dumfries. The event enjoyed a remarkable turnout, with the Galloway cattle section being the largest and most prominent, showcasing an exceptional array of livestock that the South West has to offer. Our sincere thanks go to all the exhibitors for presenting such an impressive display of Galloways in their home district.
The Finlay Family of Blackcraig, Corsock, Castle Douglas, claimed the top award with Blackcraig Blondchen D1314. Z850 and has recently contributed to an Embryo Transfer (ET) program to Australia. Blackcraig Blondchen D1314 has already had a successful year, securing the championship at the Royal Highland Show.
The Reserve Champion title was awarded to Kirkstead Lea G11 from the Ross Family of Romesbeoch, Shawhead. This 22-month-old heifer is sired by Blackcraig Bugsy Malone and out of Kirkstead Lea D14, a daughter of the prolific Troloss Impeccable. Kirkstead Noreen G11 was purchased at the Castle Douglas 2024 Spring Sale for 2,400gns.
