Glenkens Show – 17th August, 2024. Judge – Helen Ryman, North Kildarroch, Whauphill, Newton Stewart.
Continuing their winning streak, it was Blackcraig Blondchen D1314 from John, Ann, and Iain Finlay of Blackcraig who clinched the championship award at this popular, local show. This 35-month-old heifer, sired by Nucamp of Balgray and out of Blackcraig Blondchen Z850—herself a champion at The Great Yorkshire Show—has now added this title to her impressive list of accolades, having already been crowned champion at the Royal Highland and Dumfries shows.
The Reserve Champion title went to Foxglove Eyebright of Nether Cleugh, owned by Peter Hunter Blair of Nether Cleugh, Dalry, Castle Douglas. This October 2022-born heifer, also sired by Nucamp of Balgray and out of Foxglove Xaviera of Nether Cleugh, a daughter of Ladywells Notable 242N (Canada). She also has a successful history, as having been Reserve Champion at Stewartry Show and Reserve Junior Champion at the Royal Highland Show.
Congratulations to young Archie McMillan who received the red, white and blue rosette in the young handlers competition.
