Once again, Galloway cattle were in high demand at the Autumn Sale at Carlisle Mart, the flagship venue of Harrison and Hetherington. The event was marked by a sense of optimism, with five new purchasers making their debut in the breed, signalling continued interest and confidence in Galloways.

The top price of the day was achieved by Myrtle 710 of Whitehill, an  8-year-old cow from Walter, Iain, and Fiona Henderson of Whitehill, Lockerbie. Sired by Neilman of Whitehill and out of Myrtle 285 of Whitehill (a daughter of Barlaes Action Man), she was sold with her 6-month-old heifer calf, Myrtle 1064 of Whitehill, a Ben Lomond Tamdhu daughter and having ran with Trojan of Whitehill. This much admired pair was purchased by Allan Nixon and Alana Pitman of Nunscleugh, Roweltown, Carlisle. Myrtle 710 was one of 19 cows sold as part of the Whitehill herd reduction sale, due to  loss of land.

The next highest price of 2,400gns was also achieved by the Henderson family  - Fiona 752 of Whitehill, a 2017-born cow sired by Everest of Gall-way. She was sold with her heifer calf at foot, Fiona 1041 of Whitehill, a daughter of Avicii of Kilnstown and ran with Trojan of Whitehill. This pair was purchased by Messrs Moore of Slaggyford, Brampton, Cumbria.
