Moffat Show 2024

Galloway clinched overall championship at the sun-drenched show.

It was the well-known show heifer, Kirkstead Lea G11, from Jim, Selina, and Doug Ross of Romesbeoch, Shawhead, Dumfries, that claimed top honours at a sun-drenched Moffat Show. Kirkstead Lea G11 swept the competition, winning Breed Champion, Beef Champion, and Overall Champion. This September 2022-born heifer is a daughter of Blackcraig Bugsy Malone, who was purchased in 2021 for 7000gns, and out of Kirkstead Lea D14, a daughter of Troloss Impeccable. The Ross family purchased Kirkstead Lea G11, bred by R.A. McClymont of Kirkstead, Yarrow, Selkirk, at this year’s Castle Douglas Spring Show and Sale for 2400gns.

Kirkstead Lea G11 has enjoyed a highly successful show season, having been crowned Breed Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show and Stewartry, as well as earning the Reserve Champion title at both the Royal Highland Show and Dumfries Show.

The reserve champion, Nerys 2566 of Romesbeoch was from the same home as the champion, this February 2022 born Penninghame Windward daughter is out of Nerys 2175 of Romesbeoch.
